[net.music] Genesis solo careers

Not only have both Phil Collins albums been mostly about his divorce (though
he claimed to be "getting over it" when interviewed for the second album), he
had to go and produce an album by one of the women from ABBA, detailing HER
reaction to getting a divorce! All of which prompted comments about him
doing nothing but "music to get divorced by".

Anthony Phillips released, in addition to the records already mentioned,
two albums called "Private Parts and Places", with Mike Rutherford helping.
They are collections of various tunes done over the years and are in the
same folk-influenced-by-rock-and-classical vein mentioned before, and which
turned out very well.

Tony Banks released "A Curious Feeling" some time ago, and recently,
"The Fugitive". Though I've heard positive things about both, I disliked
the first on the grounds of boredom, so I hesitate to try the second.
It got a "not great but some interesting musical ideas" from a local reviewer.

Steve Hackett released "Voyage of the Acolyte" before leaving Genesis,
and "Please Don't Touch", "Spectral Mornings", "The Defector", and
"Cured" since. I'd recommend the first three, esp. the first, a mythic tale
with both power and gentleness, and an excellent vocal by Sally Oldfield.
