I have just sent the new release of "screen" to the moderator of comp.sources.unix. Since it may take several months until it actually appears in the newsgroup, I'm willing to send out individual copies to a few BITNET sites, especially to sites that are willing to redistribute it (e.g. make it available through Internet-FTP). So if you think you need a copy of "screen" urgently, send me a BITNET address or an Internet address that is recognized by the BITNET-Internet gateway MITVMA. I'm not going to send out copies over UUCP, since UUCP mail from Germany to the US is expensive. Merry Christmas, -- Oliver Laumann net@TUB.BITNET net@tub.UUCP

Maybe it could be loaded on one of the archive sites or made available for Anon UUCP, or even through E-mail (if it's not too big). In screen.c of the screen package, FreeWindow() needs to free (wp->tabs). Also, the following uuencoded file causes screen to incorrectly emulate an ANSI X3.64 terminal. There are supposed to be three numbers indented to column three in each of the first three rows. Running screen and 'cat'ing typescript will demonstrate the problem. Does anyone have this fixed? -- --russ (nelson@clutx [.bitnet | .clarkson.edu]) If you can, help others. If you can't, at least don't hurt others--the Dalai Lama

In addition, it must be granted read/write access to /etc/utmp and read access to /dev/kmem. If you do not install it as set-uid with owner root, the basic functionality will not be affected, but commands like w(1) and talk(1) can produce weird results. I have been asking this before without getting any answers. I'll ask one more time - hope someone will hear this time. So is there a port of Screen to HP-UX? It uses the terminal controlling of BSD and I don't know how to fix those for Sys V. Please, answer by e-mail of followup to comp.sources.wanted. Thank you.
