Are any of those people qualified or interested in the comp.sources.unix
moderatorship? Rich Salz has clearly abdicated (although this posting should
bring a few programs out, as they have in the past).

Let's face it, c.s.u, as it has been for the last couple years, is basically
dead. When something does appear, it usually has been available elsewhere
for months, if not years.

Sorry, Larry, but that's not the way it works. While I agree that the silence
in comp.sources.unix can be frustrating at times --- and is a major reason why
I'm trying to get the loose ends tied up and hand comp.sources.misc to someone
else before it follows comp.sources.unix into the silences --- it's up to Rich
to do something about the situation in .unix. It's also up to Rich to decide
*what* to do about it. (If you think the "silences" are bad, wait until you
see what "rogue moderatorship" is like... it can destroy a newsgroup.)
