Some time ago, Sven-Ove Westberg posted a program which will read VMS backup tapes on UNIX machines. I compiled this beast on our VAX-785 running Ultrix 3.0 (Rev 64) - no problems. The only problem is the only output I can ever get is: Volume: BACKUP Saveset name: BACKUP. number: 1 End of tape My question is: How can I get this beast to read the tapes? Neither an e(x)tract or (t)able of contents gives me any more output - regardless of the other switches I supply. I don't know enough (read anything) about tape ioctl's so the code is a bit beyond me. Also, my attempts to mail the author have proven unsuccessful. So if you can help, please MAIL any replies to me as I don't actually read this newsgroup. Thanks in advance. -- Daniel Baldoni --------------------------------------------+---------------------------------- Phone: +61-9-351-7667 | School of Computing Science, InterNet: flint@cutmcvax.cs.curtin.edu.au | Curtin University of Technology, UUCP: I have absolutely NO idea! | GPO Box U1987, ARPA: flint%cutmcvax.cs.curtin.edu.au | Perth, ... @uunet.UU.NET | Western Australia, 6001 --------------------------------------------+---------------------------------- "Any time there's something so ridiculously dangerous that no rational human being would even consider trying it, they send for me" - Belgarion, "King of the Murgos" by David Eddings -- Daniel Baldoni --------------------------------------------+---------------------------------- Phone: +61-9-351-7667 | School of Computing Science, InterNet: flint@cutmcvax.cs.curtin.edu.au | Curtin University of Technology, UUCP: I have absolutely NO idea! | GPO Box U1987, ARPA: flint%cutmcvax.cs.curtin.edu.au | Perth, ... @uunet.UU.NET | Western Australia, 6001 --------------------------------------------+---------------------------------- "Any time there's something so ridiculously dangerous that no rational human being would even consider trying it, they send for me" - Belgarion, "King of the Murgos" by David Eddings
