Aren't all vendor problems (PC Network, Mystic Canyon, JRT, etc) avoided by ordering COD (assuming it's worth the $3 or whatever) ?? Bruce Krulwich

Many companies will gladly send an item or items COD, C-E-R-T-F-I-E-D. What does this mean? Well, you could pay $X for your stuff, open it up, and find that the unscrupulous merchant has shipped you something else "in error". You have now paid CASH to UPS for the item and must now go through them AND the vendor to try to get your money back. If you are not sure of the vendor or if they are selling something at a price that is too good to be true, DON'T BUY! If however, you feel somewhat comfortable with a firm after talking to their customer relations department, but still feel hesitant, THEN USE YOUR MC or VISA! You have 120 days to contest your purchases with the bank that issues your card. A simple letter, detailing your problems and your request, is all that it takes to get their account debited and yours credited. THE BANK AND THE VENDOR HAVE NO CHOICE IN THIS MATTER! It is in the by-laws of the agreements the vendor has signed with their bank. Hope this helps. Cheers! -- Ed. -- -- Ed.
