[comp.sys.misc] Portable PC info wanted

md@hropus.UUCP (04/01/87)

I am looking for a portable PC with a built-in printer and an RS-232
port. I need to be able to program it in a high level language, so
I cannot use the TI Travelmate.
Anyone know of such a product currently on the market?

Thanks,
Michele Donnelly

Michele,
WANG has just released a nice laptop with an 80-column "twisted" LCD
screen (good viewing at an angle), 10 Mb internal Winchester, internal modem
with std (RJ-11) jack, 1 3-1/2" floppy drive, 512k RAM, and a built-in printer
that uses either thermal paper or std paper and a thermal ribbon. The LCD
screen detaches so that you can use a std crt monitor.  It came out last Oct;
runs MSDOS; price is ~$5000.00. I really wanted to spend some gov't money on
it.
GRID Computer Systems also have some very nice laptops, but these lack
a built-in printer.
Oh yeah, the WANG has both RS 232 and SCUSI ports (I think). The showroom
is at 860 Greenbrier Circle, Suite 200; Chesapeake VA 23320 (804)420-9264.
My only connection with WANG is as a satisfied customer. Other std
disclaimers apply. I hope you find this helpful.
