Are there any other TANDEM users out there on the net? If so, are you interested in getting some discussion of these systems going here? [Yes, I really do mean TANDEM -- and NOT Tandy. We're talking Tandem minis here.] FYI, our (Perkins Library, Duke University) principal application is the on-line catalog for the Duke University Libraries. Later the system will have other library management applications, such as circulation. We are part of a three-university consortium, the Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN), which, in addition to Duke, also includes North Carolina State University in Raleigh and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The other two campuses also have Tandems, linked via expand lines, and the TRLN staff in Chapel Hill have a fourth Tandem used for development work. At Duke we have a system with two TXP processors serving 51 end-user terminals and 9 dial-in ports. -- Ernest -- My opinions are my own and not necessarily IBM-compatible.--ehr Ernest H. Thank god, I thought I was lived on an island, isolated from the world. I have always been envious of all the unix programmers conversing with each other. We at Pacific Bell have 6 Nodes (??) and growing. I have lots of questions about Tandem that aren't important enough for Tandem Corp. to be concerned with. I would be curious to know how many other Tandem users access Usenet. If we could get the usenet software ported over to Tandem that would be great! Bob Stockwell
