I bought a zenith zp150 today. This is the $399 closeout unit that comes with 32k and Microsoft works in rom, and another 32k ram to be installed, and a printer cable and some silly download software for a host pc. It supposedly can be expanded to 400k of ram or so (though it says you don't dare do it yourself). 32k ram modules from zenith list at $79 but I was told they were $59. ram modules, argh! The ram modules look like 28 pin (about one inch) sockets epoxied with 2 (16k?) 32 pin "Japan 8648, HM6264LFP-15, VO412WWO" on the underside. The entire module is listed as a D208AS41T, and in the zenith catalog as a 800-2254 32k ram module. My question is, does anyone know if these are just a socket and 2 ram chips, and if so, couldn't I just solder 15 of these suckers together to populate my machine? I'm no hardware hacker, but I can build kits. No way am I gonna spend $59*15=$885. -- Dave Rasmussen c/o Computing Services Division @ U of WI - Milwaukee Internet: dave@csd1.milw.wisc.edu Uucp: uwvax!uwmcsd1!dave {o,o} Csnet: dave%uwmcsd1@uwm Phone: +1 (414) 963-5133 \u/ ICBM: 43 4 58 N/ 87 55 52 W Usnail: 3200 N Cramer #E380, Milw WI 53211
