[comp.sys.misc] CUBIX iAPX286 Unix Questions

shades@csuchico.EDU (Bennett Smith) (10/30/87)

I have CUBIX/2 and CUBIX/3 machines which are running iAPX286 Unix
System V. These machines are supposed to be binary compatible
with the AT&T 6300+ Unix System V, and the Microport System V/286.
I don't know if this is true, but CUBIX Corp. claims that this is
the case.

My questions are:

	1. Does anyone out there have any experience with these machines?
	   Is anyone using them?

	2. Has anyone come across problems with the C compiler while
	   using the large (-Ml) model?

	3. Has anyone successfully compiled any of the following
	   sources on *ANY* iAPX286 machines?

		a. ksh
		b. c-kermit
		c. netnews
		d. gnuchess
		e. Honey Danber UUCP

	4. Does anyone know of another C compiler (other than the iAPX286
one) which might work with these machines.

Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give.

Also, how would one go about finding out if there is enough interest
to start a comp.sys.cubix news group?

Yes. Small model OK.

Yes. Small model OK.

Yes. Small model (barely). Large model for rn.

Nope. Single ".c" overflows the assembler's symbol table. This is purely
due to improper configuration of the assembler (which is large model).
Even our VAX assembler is configured too small for some single file
programs.

Yes. Small model OK
