[comp.sys.misc] cX, anyone?

riddle@woton.UUCP (Prentiss Riddle ) (11/25/87)

Is anyone out there interested in discussing cX, by mailing list or
Usenet newsgroup? Or is there perhaps already such a discussion going
on that I haven't seen (perhaps in comp.sys.m68k)?

"cX", if the term is unfamiliar to you, is a machine being introduced
by Computer X, a "Motorola New Enterprises Company." It runs an
operating system called "cXOS" which allows a number of cX workstations
on a LAN to act like a single virtual machine running Unix. The idea
behind this is to make it a nice platform for "cell-control" factory
automation applications and other systems requiring distributed
real-time data management.

My own institution is interested in cX because we are on the verge of
buying a patient data management system based on it from Emtek. We
know very little about cX and cXOS at this time, but if we make the
purchase we will want to become experts.

If you are interested in discussing cX or know of a discussion in
progress, please reply by mail. Thanks.
