** THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE POSTED TO THIS NEWS GROUP SO I APOLOGIZE IF THIS ISN'T THE CORRECT GROUP TO POST TO ** I have a COMMODORE 64 personal computer and want to purchase a modem so that I can work on my UNIX account. I have used my friends Commodore and modem to do this BUT, the monitor (tv) we used only provides 40 columns. To run EMACS and such requires 80 columns. Is there any software I can buy or for that matter, is there anything I can do to use my Commodore and a modem to work on my UNIX account. Please respond via e-mail to mullen@b.gp.cs.cmu.edu Thanks for any help.

The latest version of Kermit for the C-64 has a nice usable 80 column mode. Of course, it works independently of your modem. Mike Berger Center for Advanced Study University of Illinois berger@clio.las.uiuc.edu {ihnp4 | convex | pur-ee}!uiucuxc!clio!berger
