[comp.sys.misc] The annual debate on the morality of stealing software

munck@mitre-bedford.arpa (Bob Munck) (01/29/88)

These debates seem to spring up once a year, as a new generation of
undergraduates gains access to the net and simultaneously take a
Sophomore course in Ethics. What we need is some way to restrict them
to their own mailing lists until they've gotten over the belief that
their raw opinions are worth kilo-characters of net loading. I'm
especially tired of huge .signatures containing rock lyrics older than
the person sending them.

What we really need is a way to teach newcomers to the net how to
filter articles they don't want to read, so that we don't get
innundated with requests to "take this elsewhere." :-).

Putting rock lyrics older than I am in my .signature? Hadn't thought of
that - especially as significantly less than 90% of rock lyrics are
older than I am. On the other hand, there is *lots* of poetry and
non-rock lyrics older than I am. They'll keep getting added to the set
as I stumble accross them.
