I am trying to raise from the dead an old Ithaca Encore. It appears
to be basically a standard S-100 system with Z-80 CPU, floppy controller,
hard drive interface card, memory, and SIO board. There are, however,
TWO MAJOR problems:
1. Guess what, it arrived with NO TRACE of manuals
2. All the boards have a little sticker glued on that says:
** CAUTION **
Use ONLY in ENCORE.
See Manual. {I only wish I could!!}
Anybody know anything about this thing? Are the manuals sets still
available from Ithaca (seems like I remember they changed their
name some years ago)? Anyone have a manual set I could BUY, or pay
you to copy?
And does anyone know anything about this CAUTION msg? [My *guess*
is that there is some "reserved" S-100 pin they are using for
themselves.]
Exact boards are: XPU-80, 256KDR, I/O HDA-1 (with OMTI-20), FDC-2
I have managed to power the thing up, and can *sometimes* get it to
respond (unknown autobaud character or something, not consistent),
but can only guess at a few of the commands. A boot diskette would
definitely (!) be a step in the right direction.
tnx
