[comp.sys.misc] NeXT "floptical" drive

dsill@RELAY-NSWC.NAVY.MIL (David E. Sill) (10/27/88)

According to everything I've read about the NeXT drive, it's
magneto-optical, not "floptical". The NeXT drive is a true read/write
optical disk. Floptical drives are metallic oxide coated disks with tiny
holes used for laser tracking. Floptical drive capacities are closer to
hard disk capacities than optical disk capacities. See the latest BYTE for
details about the NeXT drive.

Please don't remove NeXT discussion from this list until there are ARPA and
BITNET mailing lists for NeXT. All the world does not have netnews.
