[comp.sys.misc] Wanted: Sources of STRIDE Micro hardware/information

robbin@resrch.MoliEnergy.BC.CA (Robbin W. Johnson) (02/10/89)

Does anyone out there in netland have any surplus boards out of a Stride 400
series micro they would be willing to part with ($$), or know of a source for
the same? Specifically, I am looking for a winchester controller board and
either of the MMU or 68020 daughter boards. This is for a home system that
started life as a surplus 440 CPU board that now yearns to reclaim it's hard
disk heritage.

If you do not have something to offer, maybe you could still help. Does
anyone have any experience with using "generic" VME boards with the Stride?
I have a 6 slot VME P1 (from Stride, I am not sure how well it conforms to
the VME standard - it makes use of a non-standard bus termination scheme)
and I suppose that if I cannot find a source for the Stride winchester board
I could try a "real" VME SCSI or similar board. Is this possible and if so
what problems should I look for/expect?

Also, does anyone have any documentation on the Stride graphics board? We
have one here where I work that is presently unused, and I may be able to
borrow it to play with if I can figure out how it works. I have perused the
boot PROM and BIOS listings and know a little about it's workings. However
since we got it used, without any documentation, I am at a loss to determine
what and where to connect things to it and how to write software for it.

BTW - I understand that Stride may have re-formed under another name, does
anyone know what that name is or have a contact address?

Please respond by email.

Robbin.
