Okay, I'll try this again. I recently picked up a Convergent WorkSlate laptop at a liquidation price (for those not familiar... it's a computer that came out at the end of 1983 that's basically a spreadsheet computer... no BASIC or any programing facilities... but very compact (about the size and weight of an issue of Byte and has a built in microcassette recorder for data AND voice, 300 baud modem, and speakerphone built in)). I know from reading the original article about the computer that the "printer port" on the back of the machine is a 9600 baud asynch port. They also had available a serial/parallel convert which could plug into this "printer port" for parallel printers. My question is... does anyone know the pinout for the I/O port 's connector (it's an 8 pin telephone jack style connector)? If not... without a scope, is there any way for me to figure out what pins correspond to what RS-232 signals (I already have the connectors to wire the thing up... I just have to figure out which lines should go to which pins in a DB25 connector). What if I get access to a scope... is there a systematic way to figure things out then? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance! Bill Tsang P.S. - any suggestions on other newsgroups I should try posting this message to? Also... if anyone else is interested in this machine, I can give you my reactions to using it and where you can get it for $120 including 10 software (mostly financial applications) packages. (It was originally (in 1983-84) a $900 machine!)
