[comp.sys.misc] Cache/Shadow ram/rom

Hello.
  I've been looking at PC ads, and many brag about having cache and shadow
ram or rom. What exactly do these do? Are they that useful?
  Please send me info via e-mail. The more detail, the better! I'll post a
summary if asked.
