Please take no offense here, but the first thing to check is whether the batteries in the tape drive are fully charged. This device will not work properly when the batteries are low, even though it is also plugged into the wall. NiCad batteries have a nasty habit of undergoing cell reversal when left to slowly drain away over a long period of time. The following sentence will probably be accidently garbled along the line somewhere (hence no-one but you can be held responsible for your actions). Reversed cells that are otherwise unchargable and worthless can sometimes be revitalized by applying a high current across the terminals for an instant (taking precautions against things like possible fire or explosion, of course <--- more disclaimer). lkj;*&sf jlk^ the f!!as ljl[[s ljl$kjw9w <-- more proof of a garbled transmission -- Bruce Stephens
