Hi, I have an old CRDS Universe 68/27 system that will no longer boot. The firmware diagnostic claims that the MMU circuitry on the CPU board is bad. This is the early model CPU board known as a "CP-68". The Motorola part number for the board is 76430347. Motorola wants $568 to exchange the board for a good one, which is a bit much to repair a system that I got for nothing (well, actually I DID have to carry it down 3 flights of stairs :-)). CRDS will not support the system since the hardware was originally manufactured by Motorola and since Motorola wants more than I'm willing to pay for a replacement board, my only remaining alternative is to try to fix the system myself. If . . . 1) you have a similar system which is operationsl that you would be willing to part with for a little (< $100) money, or 2) you have a similar system that has a good CPU board but has died for other reasons, or 3) you have schematics for the system (especially the CPU board) that you would be willing to share, . . . I would like to hear from you. You can reach me through any of the paths outlined in my .signature below. Thanks for listening. -- Carl Davidson (508)256-6600 x6878 | "A strange game.
