[comp.sys.misc] Cadmus, anyone?

kencr@haddock.ima.isc.com (Kenny Crudup) (09/21/89)

Does anyone out there use or know anyone who is using a (PCS) Cadmus
system? I have a 9000 that I got pretty much free and it seems to be
useful enough (it will be in the maps soon), all things considered.

Background info- my system is a 68010 based processor running on the
DEC Q-bus with 205MB of SCSI thru Adaptec, 3MB memory, an FPP (National
Semi), a serial MUX and a proprietary (?) QIC tape system. It runs a unix
which is primarily sysV with some Berkeleyisms like SIGTSTP. I was hoping
someone could save me some time, as I want to:

- put a "real" QIC drive on the SCSI interface,
- know how far I can bump up the proc speed from 10 to 12-15 MHZ without
   losing the memory & devices thru the bus;
- best params for tuning it,
- trade horror stories,

and stuff like that. I work for the folks who now own/service the original
design and they acquired both source licenses, and I'm working on getting my
hands on a copy. FWIW, the kernel .o's for the reconfigure program still
have symbols in them, so I could play guru and wing adding drivers with
cc, make and adb....

Thanks in advance,
