The following is a question from a friend of mine. Please reply to me and I shall forward the answer(s) to him. He has no usenet access. -----> We've got a problem on terminal emulation under X-Windows: We are putting in HP Unix Work-stations for our users. Yet because there are some applications running on PCs, as an interim solution, we would like to allow our users to access those PCs through the work-stations. To achieve this, we directly connect the work-station and the PC by a RS232 cable. On the work-station side, we have xterm running to emulate a VT102 terminal. At the PC end, we have a memory resident program called pcANYWHERE running. Xterm will create a VT102 window on the work-station and we use the Unix CU command to logon to the PC. At the other end, pcANYWHERE will read the PC's serial port, translates the characters received as if they are keyboard input and it also sends the PC screen back to the work- station. However because of the difference between the VT102 keyboard and the IBM keyboard, e.g. VT102 doesn't support Shift F1 or Alt F1, some of our applications cannot be run satisfactorily through the xterm window when those special Function Keys are required. Therefore we would like to find a xterm replacement that allows keyboard re-mapping or to modify the xterm to do the keyboard re-mapping. (1) Does anybody know any VT102 Terminal Emulators besides TERM and BLAST that works similar to xterm and allows keyboard re-mapping? (2) Is there anybody who has modified the xterm program and do a keyboard re-mapping? If yes, how? Please advise if you know the answer. Thank you. <------ ...Chuan Chee ckchee@dgp.utoronto.ca (cdnnet) ckchee@dgp.toronto.edu (internet) ckchee@dgp.utoronto (bitnet)
