Folks, I am considering the various popular microprocessor busses for a system wherein I have multiple smart cards sitting on a bus. Is it totally necessary for me to need base address jumpers on each of the cards for a main processor card (i.e. in slot 0 of the bus) to be able to distinguish and uniquely address the shared memory on the individual identical cards ? Is there an industry-standard bus that has some automatic "slot ID" function? All responses would be greatly appreciated. The busses I currently know about and am considering are: VME Multibus Multibus II Futurebus (+) PC bus AT bus MicroChannel NuBus PLEASE respond by e-mail. Thanx!
