[comp.sys.misc] The end of the get well cards appeal

cjmchale@cs.tcd.ie (Ciaran McHale) (04/12/90)

I think it this was one of the newsgroups where there was a discussion about
"send a get well card to a dying boy so that he can get into the Guinness
Book of World Records". People were posting to say that in their opinion it
was
	(1) Genuine so please send a card
	(2) Genuine but they have enough cards already
	(3) A complete hoax since the boy seems to have been dying for
	    several years.
	(4) Not the appropiate news group to discuss this on.
	(5) Other opinions on the matter.

Well, on one of the satellite TV channels last night there was a chat show
called the "Frank Bough Interview". On this the boy himself, I think his name
is Craig, appeared. I only watched for a few minutes but gathered that he WAS
extremely sick but is now well on the way to recovery. He attributed his
recovery in part to the get well cards and thanked everybody for sending them.
His mother also gave her thanks but asked for no more cards to be sent as they
want to give a final total count to the Guinness Book of World Records by the
end of May; any cards which arrive after that will not be counted.

I just thought you'd like to know.

Ciaran.
