OK, so there are Intergraph personnel who actually read the Usenet stuff. THAT'S GREAT!!! AND it's good to see them responding. This is really good stuff!!! So now for a few teasers.... 1. We have two lowly IP120's, with near minimum configuration. With most of the application software talking through RIS to an RDBMS, we are very quickly going to find that these machines are under-configured. Should we be looking at a memory upgrade (to 16mB max - which may or may not be enough in the forseeable future), or is there something 'just around the corner' in the way of a new machine (maybe??) which would be a better option? This is a fairly normal hardware question (upgrade now, or wait for the new machine), which could easily generate a fairly normal response (there will always be new machines just around the corner - buy what is available now), but I am kind of hoping somebody can shed some light on some rumours that have been floating around.... 2. Without airing dirty laundry in public, what is happening with the AEC products? I appreciate there have been some staff changes at high levels, and directions/actions are taking shape, but we have product descriptions for the new version of Project Architect which would have been dated sometime early this year. It comes complete with screen shots of some really neat features that I am holding my breath for. The problem is that I going blue in the face, and may soon turn a ghostly pale shade.... 3. Some of the early problems with the object-based software seemed to be speed (of the hardware needed to drive it), size of the files, and memory requirements. With the newer hardware, is it possible to pick up the development of some of the products that were put on ice. These products looked absolutely fantastic (JUST WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR IN A CAD SYSTEM!!!).... Please take the tone of this posting in the correct way. I am in no way trying to cause trouble; I appreciate this is a very public forum (so you can't give away trade secrets); I am not being critical of Intergraph (I believe they are THE premium computer graphics company, with a great sense of customer support). I just thought it might be nice (having established a contact through this newsgroup) to generate a little discussion. Cameron Stephenson Telephone +61 75 951220 Bond University Gold Coast Australia
