[comp.sys.misc] TI 99/4A

A friend of mine was just given one of these moldy oldies. (Apparently
never used -- in the original box, with a warranty card never filled
out). When we hook it up to her TV set, and turn it on, we get a
change on the screen, but nothing that looks like a reasonable
screen. Is there some magic trick we have missed? Does anyone need
one of these for spare parts? (I'm sure that the chips in it are
probably unobtainable at this point).

Crime control, Los Angeles style: mandatory Rolex registration, five day
waiting period for used Rolex sales.
You must be kidding! No company would hold opinions like mine!

Are you sure you're on the correct TV-channel?
I remember many of these home-computers using UHF 36, but (at least mine)
TI 99/4A's used VHF 4.

If you don't have anything better to do with it, I'd be interested in
reobtaining one (I lost my own - sigh). A shipment from California to
Europe might be a bit exaggerated though :-)
(Perhaps ypu know somebody travelling to the IR-party in Germany at
31-Nov till 31-Dec ? ;-)

It was a nice machine for its time, though TI was a bit restrictive
about its inner values... ( :-) )
