NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MARCH 26, 1991 Supercomputing Review Announces SUPERNET, New Information Service for Computing Community SAN DIEGO - Supercomputing Review, the monthly magazine devoted to coverage of high-performance systems, from workstations to supercomputers, has established SUPERNET, a new information service designed as a forum for individuals and organizations in the high-performance computing community. According to Eamonn Wilmott, publisher of Supercomputing Review, SUPERNET "is our response to a growing need expressed by our readers - to be able to communicate with their peers and exchange information." SUPERNET will appear as a monthly section in the award-winning magazine, and will include information on a wide variety of topics, including research projects, software and software services, help wanted and positions wanted, user feedback on systems and software, and announcements of seminars and user-group meetings. "Basically, the categories of announcements are unlimited," Wilmott said. "SUPERNET will grow and adapt with the needs of our readers. We hope our readers will think of SUPERNET as an in-print bulletin board where they can tack up their notices, no matter what the subject." SUPERNET is available free to the high-performance computing community and will be supported by the leading corporations in supercomputing. Submissions should be kept to a maximum of 50 words. "We're dealing with some of the most important and influential computer users in the world," Wilmott said. "These people who work on and around supercomputers and high-performance systems have expressed a need to communicate with each other, whether to gain advice on a new system or establish an overseas partnership or to simply exchange research information. Our goal is for SUPERNET to be the vehicle by which they can get their message to the right people."
