[comp.sys.nsc.32k] correction to posting on 32000 family members

grenley@nsc.nsc.com (George Grenley) (08/05/87)

Recently, at the request of someone, I posted a brief summary of the 32000
family lineup. I included some rough MIP ratings. Needless to say, this
stirred up a debate. Furthermore, I personally haven't run ant of the
benchmarks, so I can't testify to their veracity.

In general, the 32332 at 15 mhz is considered a 2 MIP processor. One reason
why this number is sometimes challenged is that it will vary if you are using
one of our older compilers. You should be using our CTP compiler. This is
a relatively recent release. It is good for a solid 20% or more in
performance.

If there is general interest I will try to round up some data on 332 and 532
and publish it.

George
