[comp.sys.nsc.32k] opus series 200 personal mainframe

ken@gatech.edu (Ken Seefried iii) (05/16/88)

I am interested in hearing from who is currently using the Opus
Series 200 Personal Mainframe based on the 32332. This is a board that
plugs into an AT class machine and basicly uses the 80286 as an io processor.
Opus says that it runs a complete Unix System V rel.3.1. At Comdex they were
demonstrating XWindows v.11 for the Imagraph and Microfield graphics boards.
They also have boards bassed on the 32032 and the Fairchild/Intergraph Clipper.

I am particularly interested in how stable the Opus software is,
how good their customer service is and how well the board handles, say,
2 relatively demanding users.

I would also be interested in hearing about competative systems
(based on the 32000 series).

As an aside, the Opus rep who i talked to at Comdex ( who amazingly
was very knowledgable, helpul and honest about the product and its limitations,
his name was John Schimpf, i believe. Sharp guy. ) said that Opus is working
on a 32532 board in house. Don't be looking or it to soon, however. John
indicated that it was still in the wire wrap stage.

Thanks or any help you can give me. I will summerize i there is
interest.
