[comp.sys.nsc.32k] PC Switching Power Supply Question..

news@daver.bungi.com (05/09/90)

I am using a PC switching power supply with the 12VDC section rated
at 8 Amps to supply 2 Miniscribe 9380S disk drive. So far I have
not had a problem but I suspect the start-up current is a little
thin (both drives are currently spun up at the same time).

My question is: Is it possible to tweak the current sense
resistor (I assume there is one) to increase the 12VDC
capacity by a couple of amps, provided the wattage rating of
the supply is not exceeded ?? Since the 5VDC is rated at
20 amps and is lightly loaded there should be many watts
available if they can be re-allocated.

Best regards,
