[comp.sys.nsc.32k] lower cost options

dlr@daver.bungi.com (Dave Rand) (06/13/90)

A lot of people have becoming interested in the PC532 project over the
last few months. Some people have indicated that they wish to get
involved with the 32000 family, but can't afford the PC532.

An offer has been made to me for some older technology board products,
using the 32032 and 32332. These boards are well designed and well
manufactured. George and I have used the 32032 boards quite a bit, and
George has used the 332 board (I didn't have much of a chance to use the
332 board). A range of boards are available, from fully populated
and working to bare boards. Kits of parts are also available.

These boards are intended to plug into IBM-PC/AT type systems, but could
be modified (with some work) to be stand-alone to any type of system with
a parallel I/O port (bidirectional, not Centronics :-). UNIX is running
on the boards, and could be made available (with some work on my part).
They would serve as a good base for MINIX work, as well.

The 32032 board can accept up to 4 megabytes of RAM; the 32332 board
up to 16 megabytes.

These boards will required more hardware knowledge, as less documentation
is available for them (compared to the pc532).

If you are interested in further information on these boards, please drop
me some mail. If there is a sufficient number of people interested, I will
negotiate a price for you.
