Bruce, since you don't know what you're talking about, why spread bad
information? It is not even remotely "true that many of the disks had
problems." Out of fifty drives that I shipped out, a very small number
(on the order of 3 or 4) had problems right out of the box, and several
additional drives had problems later on. Roughly 10% does not seem to
be an uncommon failure rate for disks and it certainly doesn't qualify
as "many". (It is my understanding that all of the failed drives were
replaced or repaired without hassles or delays other than those imposed
by customs or other international barriers.)

Wrong again. A total of fifty drives went out, though several folks
acquired two, and a few weren't going on PC532s. Altogether a large
fraction of PC532s are (or will be) using these drives, and doing so
quite successfully I might add.

I doubt more of the Miniscribes can be obtained, though I'd consider
doing another round for some other drive if there's sufficient interest
and I can find a reasonable deal on them.

Except in my case, admittedly not CSC's fault, where the invoice was apparently
one of the casualties when my basement flooded this summer. When I finally
went to turn on my 4th drive, it appears to think it's much smaller than 300meg
after a format process that worked fine on the others... CSC seems uninterested
in giving me the time of day without an invoice number... for a place that
sells computer gear, they surprised me by claiming to be on a totally paper
invoice system...

The dead drive is still sitting in my basement. Suggestions? The other three
have operated flawlessly.
