Volume 1, number 2. "You want thingamabobs, I've got 20." (Ariel, the Little Mermaid) Well, I may only have 15 thingamabobs. Keeping inventory in line with changing orders is a challenge. The last PAL is on its way to me, I'm told. I haven't sent out anything this week. After these PALs arrive, I'l start shipping again, including foreign orders. Marshall and Toshiba are killing me with feast and famine. The SIMMs are always on the shelf except when my order gets there. Anyone mind if I substitute Hitachi or OKI? I'll be sending Dave a check for the cpus and fpus RSN. Have you gotten your payment in yet? Thanks again for your patience. No, I don't know yet if I'll volunteer to do this again. Heck, I don't even know if anyone would want me to! More news soon.

[In the message entitled "PC532 Parts Kit News" on Jul 25, 14:14, Steven.D.Ligett@mac.dartmouth.edu writes:] > CPUs and FPUs. I've sent Dave a check for the CPUs and FPUs. However, he > hasn't gotten them; he said: "I haven't even been billed for them yet..." I got the cheque. The cryptic comment evolves from the fact that Hamilton/Avnet is the _only_ company that I know that mails you the invoice a few days before they ship the goods. Usually, I get the bill in the mail 2-4 days before they ship! I did check up on the parts, and the ICUs are in stock, DP8490s are in stock, 532's should be in "any day now". The FPUs are a problem. According to the sales-type, "It looks like National has to build them custom - you may have to wait for them". He is checking into it... More as it comes. -- Dave Rand {pyramid|mips|bct|vsi1}!daver!dlr Internet: dlr@daver.bungi.com

Volume 1, Number 3. "Standards give us something to deviate from." RES1. Another oops. I didn't have it, I've got it, I'll ship it. Don't worry about it, it was about $0.09. Tantalum caps. An earlier oops. There should be a couple more in the kit. I'd like to blame it on my kids, but it's my fault. (I've been paying my kids to bag components, and they haven't goofed up yet.) PALs. Ah ha! No, my programmer couldn't program the Signetics 10 ns PAL, so now I've ordered a third kind. The best part about it is that I'll have an account with a National Semiconductor distributor. The worst part is that the PALs aren't cooked yet. CPUs and FPUs. I've sent Dave a check for the CPUs and FPUs. However, he hasn't gotten them; he said: "I haven't even been billed for them yet..." AT power connectors. The round ones I sent out work with the power supply I have. Please check yours. I can find the square ones, but not the blade type that are on real IBM boards. If you know of a part number for them, or can pick up a bag full, please tell me. I can send them out with the kits, and youse can make up your own minds. My limited experience with these connectors is that you have to snip bits of plastic off the power supply connectors to get them to seat. Late PAL news. My PAL software arrived, and I've programmed all the pals! I'll be programming the Eproms as soon as I verify that I've got a good monitor image. I plan to ship kits out on Saturday.

Volume 1, Number 4. "Too tired to quote." I have been shipping things out. However, I haven't had much luck predicting when I'll be shipping what, based on what I'm expecting in. I mean who'd ever expect a distributor to substitute surface mount 74als6311's?? I'm officially, completely, taking a week off, next week, for my health. I don't expect to use any technology more advanced than a toaster. (Not even less advanced technology, like a Macintosh.) I'll try to leave a pick-up tonight for UPS to get on Monday. Dave may have news of cpus and fpus next week. I'll return to catch up.

Volume 1, Number 5. "I have 10 CPU's in my hands, and 7 FPU's." Dave Rand (I hope you have an anti-static wrist strap on!) Yahoo! I returned to work today, to receive this good news from Dave. (I also have 92 email messages in my in-box. I'll be getting to you, really!) I don't want to promise ship dates, but I'll start writing up the addresss labels tomorrow.
