[comp.sys.nsc.32k] ICu, Minix, lack of working OS...

s861298@minyos.xx.rmit.OZ.AU (Marc A. Boschma) (03/04/91)

Well after swapping ICUs etc. nothing seems to have changed.

I'm begining to suspect the copy of the boot image we have...
whats the possibility of a new image Bruce ? (or anyone else
for that matter).

Our Minix is dated: Wed Jan 06 18:35:42 PDT 1990

Wow! That's really old! You need a monitor dated after April 1990
(earlier versions didn't use direct exception mode and, hence, will not
work with Minix) and a Minix dated from the middle of summer 1990,
preferably the end of August (fixes a memory allocation bug and a bug
in the code to determine the RAM size).

Send me an original Prentice-Hall Minix boot disk with the copyright
on it plus six bucks and I will send you my "official" pc532 Minix
distribution. And, of course, I will return your boot disk.

By the way, my address has changed. Here's my new address:

	Bruce Culbertson

Cheers,
Bruce
