I'm running an old OPUS 32032 processor on a double card inside a PC clone. Anyway, for those of you who know about such things, I've been trying to install smail3.1.19.Z and a recenet version of cnews on it. The problem begins with it refusing to decompress the compressed files for lack of memory (4 megs available). Ok, so I decompress under DOS and go to transfer them to the opus partition. It truncates all files at one meg of length (1024 bytes * 1024) exactly. I don;t feel up to untaring under DOS too! Anyway, piddling around with opconfig, I discovered a strange phenomenon that MAY be the key, but I don't know how to handle it. Opconfig, run from DOS, shows all partitions as they should be. Opconfig, run from opus, shows no partitions whatsoever. Says something about DSK/0 needing a unique entry in opus.cfg (which it apparently already has). Any thoughts (other than buy a real unix box?)
