[comp.sys.ti] Publications that cater to TIPC users

lagache@violet.berkeley.edu (Edouard Lagache) (08/20/87)

There has been a sudden resurgence of interest in the Texas
Instruments Professional Computer on this net group. If you
are suddenly feeling the urge to do something to help out
your old TI Pro, here is a list of publications to help you
out all of then claim to cover TIPC interests:

               The SenTInel
               DataText Computer Services
               P.O. Box 635
               Dunlap, CA, 93621
               (209) 338-2472 Rates: $16/year

The SenTInel is a one year old publication that is a cross
between a shoppers weekly and a newsletter. However it
has a lot going for it. It has the largest collection
of advertisers for TIPC materials, and has been
consistently in the forefront of TIPC news. Given its
moderate cost I regard it as a best buy.

               DirecTIons
               TI-MIX
               P.O. Box 201897
Austin, TX, 78720 Membership dues: $40/year

DirecTIons is the journal of TI-MIX (Texas Instruments
Mini/Micro computer Information eXchange), and is a fine
quality magazine. Unfortunately, it contains a fair
number of articles unrelated to the TIPC, and the
membership dues are now rather steep. But it is
probably required reading for TI nuts.

               TI Computing
               12416 Hymeadow Drive, Suite #2
               Austin, TX, 78750-1896 Rate: $39/year

TI Computing used to be a true magazine devoted to the TIPC.
Unfortunately, about a year ago they made a major format
and content change that wasn't an improvement. It isn't
clear exactly what market they are catering to, but they
may be in the process of rediscovering their old roots.

At the moment the SenTInel is probably the best value,
but it isn't a complete substitute for the other two
publications or a users groups. I hope that this list will
help out TIPC owners, and get then at least partially back
          into the family
