[comp.sys.ti] hard disk reorganizer program

dee@linus.UUCP (David E. Emery) (05/04/88)

Has anyone tried any of the IBM PC hard disk reorganizer/compresser
programs on a TI Pro? I have the SSI hard disk (a very nice product,
by the way), and it's getting pretty fragmented.

Yes. I have successfully used the Disk OrGanizer (DOG), written by G.
Allen Morris III, on each of my two 10MB Miniscribe drives. It works,
that is, it really does help disk performance and it doesn't damage
the disk, at least as far as I can tell. Many bulletin board systems
will have the file, usually as DOG101A.ARC.

I have heard others say they've successfully used this package on
other size TI PC drives, but I have no first-hand experience with
anything other than my two (E: and F:) drives. I have, however,
successfully used DOG on a 32MB partition on my IBM PC clone at home.

This is a shareware package. The author asks $20 from government
and business users, and "whatever its worth" from individuals. The
software will defragment a drive, optionally order some or all of the
files in a user-specified sequence, and it will trim unused space from
subdirectories.

I have a TI Pro with 10MB TI hard disk. I use DOG (Disk OrGanizer by G.
Allen Morris III). No problems. I have not tried any other organizer
program or any other disk configuration.
