Greetings! I just dug out a TI portable business pc. It is running DOS version 2.11 and has nothing on it (other than the DOS stuff that comes in the dist). I have tried running lots of other MS-DOS disks thru it but it bombs everytime giving some *system error* 1048 (?) And I have tried booting it off of MS-DOS 3.0 and it refuses to boot. Question: What's going on? I thought this thing was supposed to be PC-Compatible? Can I get an upgrade on system disks? If not, what can I get that will run on 2.11? How about some communication program that would allow me to add a modem to it? Thanks. It is usually error 1042 if I recall correctly off the top of my head. > > And I have tried booting it off of MS-DOS 3.0 and it refuses > to boot. > > Question: What's going on? Word processors and such which write directly to the screen for speed will not work because the screen is at a different address. In short "well behaved" programs will work but most useful programs don't appear to be well behaved. Some programs have a TI version but these tend to be old stuff. A version of DOS 3.? has been developed but I have not purchased it. > > Can I get an upgrade on system disks? > If not, what can I get that will run on 2.11? > How about some communication program that would > allow me to add a modem to it? Kermit and several com programs are available. Your best bet for getting them is to find a local BBS that supports the TI Pro. If you can't find one, send me some mail and I'll see what I can dig up. > > Thanks. > > Deepak. > > George Grimes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DOMAIN: grimesg@sj.ate.slb.com | George Grimes UUCP: {decwrl,uunet}!sjsca4!grimesg | Schlumberger Technologies INTERNET: grimesg%sjs@sdr.slb.com | 840 Avenue F #108 PHONE: (214)422-7200 | Plano, Tx. 75074 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
