[comp.sys.ti] 32-bit Integer Divide needed for TI TMS320C25 DSP Chip

leue@galen.crd.ge.com (Bill Leue) (10/02/89)

I'm looking for some 32-bit integer math routines for a Texas Instruments
TMS320C25 Digital Signal Processor. Specifically, I need an integer
divide routine what will divide two 32-bit 2's complement integers,
giving a 16-bit integer result. I only need the quotient -- I don't care
about the remainder. The programmer's manual for the TI chip gives
good examples for extended precision math for adds, subtracts, and
multiplies, but not divides. There's a god reason -- the TMS320 chip
doesn't even have a divide operation -- even for 16 bits.

If anyone has a routine that performs this kind of division, I'd really like
to hear form you. Even a division that works only with signed magnitude
or positive binary numbers would be fine. Please mail any replies
directly to me if possible. Thanks!
