[comp.sys.ti] Modem problems with a TI 1505

karln@uunet.uu.net (06/10/91)

Greetings All,

I am posting this question for a friend,
but he does not have (yet) a mail address so please
send any responses to me. Please E-Mail me as I
would need two or three a feed setup for this conference.

We CANNOT get a telebit T1000 to work properly,
or much at all, on a TI-1505. Here's what I know:

1: The 1505 has 16 serial ports, I've been told a standard
sort of setup.

2: Terminals work fine. I do not know the degree of testing
done to verify that the terminals work fine, but users are
using them and not complaining.

3: The modem _used_ to have full hardware handshaking, ie:
CTS/RTS, DCD, DTR the works. At this point the CTS/RTS is turned
off, but the DCD and DTR are probably still on. NOTE: I can remote
change the T1000 registers, due to that nice feature of the T1000.
The modem was checked out on a SUN SS2, if that means anything.

4: TI 1505 symptoms:
a: If we powerdown and back up, then we can login properly ONCE:
b: after that we get either nothing or stange looking bits and
pieces of who knows what. To me it seemed like it was missing
a lot a chars and only sending a few.

c: at any point if we put a terminal on the port, it works OK.
d: if we cu local, we can talk fine to the modem from the TI.

NOTE: The T1000 is locked at 19200 baud, like the terminals.

My appologies if this is a FAQ (It might be:-). If anyone sends
me a FAQ or such thing for a TI-1505, I will be sure to jump three
time for joy in your honor.

We have had both TI and Telebit on the phone, but still we have
problems. Thanks a whole lot for any help. This problem has been
going on for far too long.
