F.Y.I.
    I'm not familiar with your printer interface. Is it one of those that plugs
into the joystick port?  If so, a new Pokey probably won't fix your
problem.  Pokey handles the sound, keyboard scanning, random number
generation, paddle controllers, IRQ from peripherials, and last but not
least the serial bus.

    When the price of Atari 400s came down, I bought one for parts.  It's
come in handy a few times already.  I too refuse to part with my 800.
