I would like to start posting some programs to the net that appeal to the general audience out there. I assume that people have access to local BBS where they can obtain programs, so there is no need to post some of the more popular public domain programs. I also assume that not everyone accesses the net through a UNIX computer or other large computer so I should not use "uuencode" or "arc" to encode binaries. If I am incorrect on these points let me know. I would like to start by posting a program called "Turbo Basic-XL". Apparently it's a public domain program from somewhere in Europe that provides a Basic interpreter that's 100% compatible with Atari Basic and provides many new and valuable features including: many new commands and functions, faster execution of programs (3 times faster, so you can tolerate using some of those Basic games), and a little more available memory. It's basically similiar to Basic-XL or Basic-XE from OSS. The only bad part is that it only works in XL and XE machines. (An 800XL is really an excellent buy for Atari owners at ~$70, and with 256K ram added a real joy to use.) I'll post the docs and binary separately. I'll use BINHEX to encode the binary since that will work for just about everyone. Owen Alexander
