Marc Appelbaum claims that Chameleon does not emulate a vt100. My version (an early one) does not, but I know that later on it was advertised as a vt100 emulator (complete with 132 columns -- horizontally scrolled, of course). I never saw this version, but I assumed that it existed. Fred Sullivan Dept. Math. Sci. SUNY at Binghamton vx1245 @suny-bing Soon I'll be a person rather than a number!!

It does claim either 80 or 132 column emulation (scrolling). It stores and dials up to 16 numbers and includes Kermit file transfer as well as Xmodem. Antic does list a vt100 terminal emulator for $10 in the Public Domain section. I don't know if this is the VT-10sq or not. They don't say. They do say it works with Hayes compatible modems and interface. Hope this helps... Kit Kimes AT&T--Information Systems Labs 1100 E. Warrenville Rd. Naperville, IL 60566 ...ihnp4!iwvae!kimes

I have used Chameleon for about 4 years. Up until recently I was using version 2.0. I got V4.03 from Antic about a month ago and have been using it happily ever since. Chameleon does NOT emulate a VT-100. It does, however, emulate a Glass TTY, ADM3a, VT-52, VT-52x (extended) and IBM 3101. It supports a number of file transfers including simple capture, XMODEM and Kermit (which is why I wanted to get V4.03 in the first place). I have only two complaints about Chameleon. The documentation is found on the back of the disk. It can be printed or displayed via the program that boots up that side of the disk, but I miss the nice, readable, semi-indestructible manual that came with V2.0. Also, Chameleon will not recognize that it can indeed dial my modem (Volksmodem 12 through the 850), and I am forced to <escape> to the main menu and START the communications on my own. I'll get over it. (Yes, you may infer from this that you can indeed store the numbers of your favorite dozen or so computers.) Make that three complaints...V4.03 does not save the filename to which you may routinely download (or in my case "snapshot" the screen...which I do to the printer frequently...) in its parameters. Chameleon is available through the Antic Catalog for $19.95 and it only took about 2 weeks for it to be delivered, and I sent a personal check as payment! Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions about Chameleon. I will be happy to try and answer them. Holly Lee Stowe .............................. .............................
