Re: OMNIVIEW/VT10SQ compatibility. I normally run OMNIVIEW for all operations
on my 800XL, and as I recall, I used vt10sq freely with it with no
difficulties, switching to CDY's free OmniTerm program for downloading files,
since VT10SQ does not support that sort of thing.

I don't know why a 130XE with OMNIVIEW should fail to work right with vt10sq.
In fact, I would think you would have to run the TRANSLATOR DISK to get vt10sq
to work at all with a standard 130XE but you would NOT need the translator
disk to run it with OMNIVIEW. However, all of my OMNIVIEW experience has been
with an 800XL with Newell 256KXL upgrade.

Calling all fellow Newell 256KXL board owners:

I have just completed figuring out how to patch a Newell 256KXL board so that
it will act almost EXACTLY like a 130XE with respect to control of ANTIC.
The patch should allow 256KXL owners to run graphically oriented software such
as Xlent's Typesetter program and other "Desktop Publishing" applications
without having to add the Newell-suggested manual switch "fix". In fact, I
would expect it to run all commercial 130XE software exactly the same as a
130XE would, while allowing the extra 128K of memory to be used for a RAMdisk.

The patch requires cutting two foils and wiring up some unused sections of ICs
already on the board, but it DOES NOT require adding any parts other than new
wires. My guess is that it should take at most an hour or two to make the
modification, given step-by-step instructions.

If anybody is interested in details when this patch has been fully tested,
please let me know where I can mail info to you.

	VT10^2 does work with a 130XE. I use it with an MPP-1000E
(Supra 300AT) modem. If you load Matt Ratcliff's (sp?) BASIC Switcher
to knock out BASIC (I hate using <OPTION>), then _Analog's_ Home-Made
Translator (or any other translator I guess) , and finally VT10^2
everything works fine.

I am interested in using OMNIVIEW (with OMNICOM) on my XE.
Does anyone know where I can get more info on it? This month's
_Analog_ and _Antic_ don't seem to have any adds for the company that
makes it (CDY right?). Will it work with an MPP modem? Is it
possible to use the Fastchip without OMNIVIEW?
