In response to a question by Nick DiMasi which arrived without a return address (and I am often too hasty about deleting earlier messages which might have the return address), yes, CDY *HAS* added ASCII data capture to the latest version of OmniCom, and not only that, but also a very handy "Print Screen" function. The ASCII capture can go to the printer if you have more than a single screenful of data to capture, but for many applications like printing short e-mail messages, the single screen capture mode is more convenient. For one thing, you can decide after the data arrives that you want to print it. Also, all you have to do to print what is on the screen is turn on your printer and press SELECT and OPTION simultaneously. For those who aren't familiar with it, OmniCom is a vt100 emulator program available as an accessory to CDY's OMNIVIEW 80-column upgrade chip for the 800/XL/XE computers. I believe it to be the most complete vt100 emulation available and it also supports kermit and xmodem for error-free file transfers. With the addition of ASCII data capture and "Print Screen" functions, it is probably the best terminal emulation program around for the 8-bit Ataris, and certainly the best vt100 emulator I have seen. CDY's mailing address is: CDY Consulting, Inc., 421 Hanbee, Richardson TX 75080. Their phone number is (214) 235-2146. I have no financial interest in CDY Consulting, nor, alas, in most other profit-making companies. -John Sangster / jhs@mitre-bedford.arpa
