[comp.sys.atari.8bit] C compiler

jerrym@mmintl.UUCP (Jerry Martinez) (04/17/87)

In a previous message, Terry Conklin wrote of a DVC C compiler for the 8-bits.
Is it a full implementation with pointers,strucs,.....etc? Or is it a subset
of the language like some on the market?

I'm getting married on May 30th, so if it's not ready by then, well...
Right now, I have a working version of the compiler, though it's not
been thoroughly tested yet, I still have two non-trivial things left on my
"goodies" list: constant expressions and decent error handling. I'd
really like to do constant expressions, e.g., "int arry[SIZE+1];" (50/50
at this point). I'm definitely going to punt on the error handling (sorry).

Brad Banko originally volunteered to test a preliminary version of the
compiler, but since he's off the net now, would someone else like to
step in? (First offer goes to Marc Appelbaum unless Brad is out there
somewhere...)

Sure, "The C Programming Language" by Kernighan and Ritchie :-). But
seriously, apart from a page or two describing new features and their
limitations, no. That along with the Deep Blue C manual should get you
through.

>Okay......WILL YOU POST IT ON THE NET?

I will, unless someone gives me reason why I shouldn't...

This sounds like a great idea. Can anyone tell me if FASTC.COM is compatible
with the P-code described in the documentation that came with Deep Blue
Secrets?

I'm not going to post the sources at first. Maybe later...

By the way, I forgot to mention the compiler does initializers too (static
variables only).
