[comp.sys.atari.8bit] ARCX vs 800XL again

jrd@STONY-BROOK.SCRC.SYMBOLICS.COM (John R. Dunning) (06/17/87)

A while ago, I discovered that the ARCX that's been posted a few times
will only work on real 800s, or XL/XEs with translator disks, and posted
the news to the net, with requests for aid, sources, pointers to author,
etc. I haven't gotten any responses yet; does anyone out there know
anything about whether there's a fixed version available, or how I can
get hold of anyone who could tell me?

knutsen@aramis.rutgers.edu.UUCP (06/18/87)

I don't know about versions of ARC posted on the net, but you can
get a copy of ARCX1.2 (that works just fine on an XL/XE w/out
Translator) from the JACG BBS in Roselle, NJ. Number is down there in
the .signature somewhere.
Note: ARC ver 1.1 is up there on the BBS, too. ARC 1.2 is buggy,
so it's best to use ARC 1.1 for ARCing things, and ARCX1.2 for
de-ARCing them.

ARC and ARCX Version 1.2 and v1.1 work on all ATARI 8bits. I use it
on my 1200XL without the translator! The current version is available
on GEnie, CI$, Delphi, and most bbs.
