[comp.sys.atari.8bit] Ramcard

lazear@gateway.mitre.ORG (02/24/88)

(I tried replying directly to Dennis, but have to resort to the list...sorry)

Dennis,
I am interested in your Ramcard.
I have an old 800 and am concerned about the card
working with existing software (DOS 2.0 and binary stuff). How does
one add the proper driver to DOS (does every disk need AUTORUN.SYS
with this driver?) and what about binary programs that are on
boot disks? Do you have to have all the programs you want in the
ramdisk on your boot disk (or what is the procedure to load the
ramdisk?) or is it battery backed up, so when you turn off the 800
the ramdisk is non-volatile?

As you can see, I am not well versed in the ram extensions to the 800,
but your price and apparent simplicity would add dynamite to my system.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

This, too, is a "resort to the Net with apologies" -- I E-mailed Dennis about
two weeks ago expressing extreme enthusiasm in the Ram-Card-for-sale, and have
never heard back from him. Now I suppose I have to fight for "first contact"
rights? Sigh.

I was going to include here a copy of the message I sent out, but I apparently
never saved a copy of it. Well. THAT'll teach me.
