[comp.sys.atari.8bit] Kermit-65, Best C

gdtltr@vax1.acs.udel.EDU (Gary D Duzan) (03/08/88)

Greetings all. I have noticed that there is a good bit of talk about posting
good PD programs and not much actual posting. For example, I have been looking
for Kermit-65 and a good C (Lightspeed, it seems, may be the best). If you
think a file could have widespread use and/or it has been requested, it would
be reasonable to make it available. I am relatively new to the net, but I
have found a couple ways to handle file distribution. I see one of the better
ones being uuencoding and posting to the net. The next option is also a
question: are there systems that specialize in distributing Atari
software (via ftp, etc.)? That might work. I have also heard of LISTSERV, but
I could use more info if you would like to help.
For my contribution, I offer Daisy Dot II and Codebuster. DDot II is a
rewrite of the original with lots of enhancements. It is in C now so it will
work with SpartaDOS. It now is a full text processor with underlining,
boldface, switching fonts, centering, shift left/right, and the list goes on.
Utilities include one to change Atari character set files to .NLQ files.
Codebuster is a great little utility for the ML hacker. It does many things,
not the least of which is the conversion of binary load files into Atari Macro
Assembler source code. Great for the hacker with a lot of patience. If anyone
would like either one, let me know & I will get it to you. They can both
be legally distributed (I don't use PD because the term has become so narrow).
