May I remind users of OmniCom that it is a shareware product, and that excellent documentation comes on the disk version, which you are supposed to order for $10 from David Young, 421 Hanbee, Richardson TX 78050 (?check ZIP code) if you plan to use it on a continuing basis. However, I can see how John Bunch and others might like to verify a few details like the above to ensure useability of the product before paying even the minimal $10 fee, so I will include the following hint: The OPTIONS key selects the menu, and I think it is P for Parameters on the menu across the top which will let you walk through most any tailoring your heart could desire. In particular, you can program the sequence sent by any valid key combination, e.g. normal key, SHIFT+key, CTRL+key, or CTRL+SHIF+key. For a few keys, CTRL or CTRL+SHIFT doesn't work or doesn't really give you a new key, but otherwise you can make any key send any string of bytes you like. So it's just a matter of mapping the valid combinations into what you need. For example, ` is Hex $60, so you type whatever key (or CTRL/SHIFT combination) you want to have send `, then you can enter the Hex code directly as 60 and a <RETURN>. Then a <RETURN> by itself and OmniCom will ask you if you want to save these parameter values, which you presumably do. Here is a suggested mapping: Map the "Atari" key into Line Feed because it is in the same location as LF on a vt100. Map SHIFT+<atari key> into tilde and maybe CTRL+<atari key> into your ` character, if in fact SHIFT and CTRL give differently programmable keys. Incidentally, I also mapped CTRL+<numeral> and CTRL+SHIFT+<numeral> into Hayes modem autodial sequences, i.e. ATDT16175551212 type things, giving a total of twenty custom autodial codes! I don't know offhand if any key sends ` without your programming it, but you'd probably find it more convenient to choose a key like the Atari key to do it anyway. -John Sangster / jhs@mitre-bedford.arpa
