[comp.sys.atari.8bit] Farewell

jhs@MITRE-BEDFORD.ARPA (04/24/87)

Farewell to Brad Banko, whose participation I will miss. I hope he finds a
path back to us in the near future. Meanwhile, I have a comment to make on
his farewell message.

He writes...

Actually, The PRINT TOOL is an implementation of RUNOFF for the Atari which is
ALREADY available. I'm not exactly sure how ROFF and RUNOFF differ, but they
are at least different generations of the same idea. This excellent program
makes it possible to turn out completely professional-looking reports and book
manuscripts, not to mention Vu-graph slides, on your 8-bit Atari. The program
is extremely well documented, in my opinion. The manual, which as I recall is
some 70 pages long, is itself an example of the professional quality of
document that can be produced by The PRINT TOOL. It includes features such as
automatic decimal numbering of sections (if you want decimal numbering), and
it produces the Table of Contents automatically. Not only that, but if you
take the trouble to flag all the items you want mentioned in the Index, it
will construct the Index for you also. This product is an unusually good
software value at the list price of $20 and has been on sale recently for
about $15. You can buy it through ANTIC or directly from the vendor. To
order, check your ANTIC catalog or write to:

You use The PRINT TOOL with any word processor that produces standard ASCII
files, such as AtariWriter, Paper Clip, SpeedScript, or OmniWriter (CDY's
80-column WP program). You insert formatting commands as described in the
manual, and The PRINT TOOL does the rest.

I am not in any way affiliated with Computer Educators, Inc.

Well, it has been fun, but all good things must come to an end. My account
here is scheduled to be terminated tomorrow. In the unlikely, though possible,
event that some of you might think me interesting enough to contact via non-
USENET methods, the infomation necessary to do so follows:

It is possible that my account will be renewed this fall. If so, I will see
(in a manner of speaking) you all then.
